The Fountain Soundtrack

Sometimes a piece of music can evolve way past it's original intent to become a culturally recognized cue. Clint Mansell created one of these with his leitmotif on the soundtrack for Requiem For A Dream, "Lux Aeterna." It's a piece that everyone has heard at least once, somewhere, in a movie trailer, in a commercial, or maybe on SportsCenter. Putting aside any issues someone might have of this being a simple sell-out job, "Lux Aeterna" remains a haunting, powerful, and brilliant piece of music. (if you wanna hear it, do a youtube search for it, you'll get a bunch of different versions of it.)

So, wait...why am I talking about music that I haven't actually uploaded? Well, for as good as "Lux Aeterna" is, I think that his most recent collaboration with Darren Arnofsky is even better. The soundtrack for The Fountain is one of those soundtracks that truly enhances the film, elevating it, making the film that much more powerful. It's really low-key & mellow, so pop this music in while you're star-gazing, or reading the newspaper on a rainy Sunday morning.
